childhood.

I am a TA for a little ballet class on Wednesday mornings and today was princess day. We started the day out by making princess crowns and choosing which princess we wanted to be. I got to spend the day with Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, and Belle...I know you are jealous. We had a fun-filled day of walking on our glass slippers and leaping over princess cones. There was even a magical princess bracelet at the end of class!

For those of you who don't know, princesses are one of my all time favorite things. (refer to the list on the left) I love all the movies, know all the songs, have all the princess PEZ, and even have a princess lanyard to hold my keys. My dream? To be a princess at Disneyland.

The obsession started as a little girl...I can't help it. Every day as a child I would choose a princess, make my parents guess which one I was that day, and would not answer to anything but that name for the entire day.

Today is princess day.
And I found the Reeses I have been hiding.
Best. Day. Ever.

ps. the dance class I was nervous for was awesome...that class is my favorite!

the only thing we have to fear is fear itself...and spiders.

This semester I'm taking an Orientation to Dance class. In this class we learn about the history of dance, numerous types of dance, important choreographers and dancers, and some days we actually get to dance! I was so stoked to start this class and so far I have absolutely loved it...dance is a sort of therapy for me. It is where you can release all inhibition and discover the amazing possiblities of the human body.

Today is our first day of actual dancing in class, and honestly, I'm really quite nervous. It doesn't matter how many years I've strived to perfect my technique or how many endless hours I've spent practicing in classes...I just can't seem to get rid of these butterflies. But, as Martha Graham said,

"You have to permit yourself to feel, you have to permit yourself to be vulnerable. You may not like what you see, that is not important."

Words to live by. It doesn't matter how spazzy I may look today...all that matters is that I try right?

Ok...(deep breath)...here I go. Wish me luck!

sometimes one is enough

So I'm sitting at school down here in Orem eating lunch by myself...sad, you may think...lonley, you may think...nerd, you may think. In reality, none of those are true! (Well, besides the nerd part!) I actually enjoy taking a break from people and school for an hour during the day. It gives me a chance to just sit, relax, and reside within my thoughts...quite a calming process if I do say so myself.

On the other hand...going to school in Orem and never seeing a face you recognize can feel a little lonely sometimes! But, today I ran into someone I know! Quite a lovely surprise to have a piece of good old Salt Lake here at school and to catch up with an old friend!

Well, back to my break!

chocolate love.

You know those little messages on the inside of Dove chocolates? I love those messages.
This is why...

{lauren eating her chocolates and reading wrappers}

Wrapper #1:
"Seek out small indulgences for yourself."
Lauren's Response: Chocolate is an indulgence...
looks like I have to have another one...

Wraper #2:
"Remind yourself that it's okay not to be perfect."
Lauren's Response: Self, it is okay that I'm not perfect. My sweet tooth prevents perfect eating habits and imperfection is okay therefore having another chocolate is okay...
looks like I have to have another one...

Wrapper #3:
"A special moment deserves a special chocolate."
Lauren's Response: Too bad that was my last chocolate...
looks like I have to go buy more.

In the meantime I'll just have to eat my Reeses.

dreamland

This morning I woke up on my side with my arm straight up in the air moving in little circles.

I mean it. 100% vertical.

This is not the first time this has happened...I am extremely confused.

hello

So today is the first day of my spring semester classes and at the moment I'm chillin' by the library. I have an hour and a half before my next class so I thought I would give a little update!

The Christmas break was just awesome and I totally needed it! It was nice to be lazy and not worry about homework or finals for a while! I'm now starting the new semester feeling relaxed and refreshed...especially when visiting the Jamba Juice that is so conveniently located in the same building as all of my classes! :)

Now, to finish out my little break before class I'm going to eat my lunch and finish watching Armageddon!

twenty ten.

This New Years Eve/New Years day was filled with activities! My wonderful cousin Marlee was in town from Idaho so the Harris/Francom trinity (consisting of me, Marlee, and Bethany) just HAD to get together for a delicious dinner at Citris Grill! This is what resulted...

Later in the evening Marlee and I got together with some friends and had an epic Rock Band 2 showdown...I must say we sounded pretty dang awesome! Then we all went over to our friend David's house to sit in his hot tub while waiting to bring in the new year! We watched the ball drop, exchanged New Years wishes, and finished the evening with one of my all time favorite movies...A Knight's Tale! Love, love, LOVE that movie! Marlee and I then had a much needed sleepover before she departed back to her home in Idaho the next day!

New Years day hosted an awesome sledding adventure with some of Chris's good friends! I couldn't remember the last time I had been sledding so this activity was especially fun for me!

I wish you all a Happy New Year and hope this year brings you nothing but joy!
